With a 3-2 home victory of Barys against Novgorod, the Kazakhs secure the last free ticket for the second KHL Play-Off round.

In each of the previous six games, the home team was able to prevail. Torpedo won 3-1 in Novgorod and Barys won Game 5 with the same score.

Today, the matter became a lot more exciting. After Astana took the lead after just 54 seconds through Dietz, there was a fast, punishment-free first period. Torpedo scored the equalizer thanks to Volchenko in the 17th minute.

In the second period it was over with the penaltyless time. There was a minor friction between Miele and Bary’s player Svedberg. Both teams also left a power play unused. In the 33rd minute then the renewed lead to 2-1 for Astana by Frattin. However, this held only slightly more than four minutes, then Semin succeeded the renewed equalization to 2-2 (37.)

In the final period, it was again Dietz, who brought with an early goal (52.) Barys Astana again lead. Now the penalties were gone and Astana left Novgorod with very little room to play. In the 59th minute Torpedo made things twice as hard as Holm conceded two minutes because of disability. This opened the way for Barys to rise.
