Dinamo Riga celebrates a clear 5-0 over Slovan and stays on Vityaz and Sochi.

After Sochi had presented yesterday with a victory, Riga was under pressure against Slovan. The guests came last in the Western Conference and Gelinas left the Slovaks this week and moved to Sweden.

As usual, Riga was very energetic from the start, but Slovan played along. There were good chances over and over, but both goalies, Stepanek and Bilyalov were able to keep their team from conceding until further notice. McMillan and Sotnieks had the best chances for Riga, for Bratislava Lamper had a good opportunity. So a balanced, fast and interesting first period went into the break.

After the break Riga had after only a few seconds in a playful outnumber. Slovan did not know what to do with it and so it went on without a goal. Dinamo was a bit more dangerous in the attack, Slovan tried with long shots to succeed. After a nice move, Batna puts Dinamo Riga 1-0 in the lead (15.). Slovan had to open now and therefore drove in counterattacks of Riga vulnerable. Minutes before the second break Slovan’s Baranov had to sit on the penalty bench. Riga did not miss this opportunity and Videll scored the 2-0 (38.).

At the beginning of the last third it was heated. First, Sersen had to take a seat on the penalty bench for boarding. In this power-play, Riga was on the trigger and McMillan repeatedly stood in front of Stepanek and tried with the shrugging shoulders to take this view. Stepanek McMillan then checks his stick too. The referee raised his hand and Stepanek complained too loudly and received a 10-minute disciplinary sanction. Then he shot the broken stick of McMillan on the legs of the referee and this sent Stepanek immediately from the ice (43.). Instead of Stepanek Vojvoda came to Slovan Goal. In the subsequent power play Darzins increased, after pass from Alisauskas to 3-0 (45.), which was also a preliminary decision. Riga continues by train to the gate. After a border check by Sersen to Berzing, Janosik played the Avenger. Then Zile intervened and they both delivered, to the delight of the audience, a real fight. Afterwards, both of them drove into the cabin with applause. Also this power play uses Riga. Sotnieks with a shot attempt, Bacik fakes the puck in the air. Marenis takes over in the air and strikes 4-0 (57.). This goal was given but only after video analysis as well. Slovan continued to be very frustrated and when Sloboda sat on the bench, Riga scored his fourth power play goal in the match. Dzerins utilizes a pass from the Meija to the final score of 5-0 (59.). With this clear victory, it remains to the play-off places, is only one point behind Vityaz and two behind Sochi.
