As reported by Sportacentrs.com, the Latvian national team defender Krisjanis Redlihs has formally concluded a „two-way contract“ with the KHL club of Kunlun Red Star in Beijing.
The president of the Beijing club is the Latvian Raitis Pilsetnieks became aware of the 37-year-old Routnier. Kunlun finished 12th in the Eastern Conference last season with 61 points in 56 games. This season Kunlun is ranked 10th after 14 games and five wins with 12 points.
The 37-year-old Redlihs started his career with the Latvian club Metalurgs Liepaja. In the 2002 season, Redlihs was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 5th round. In the following four seasons, he played in the AHL at the Albany River Council, the leap into the NHL he has, however, missed. In 2006/07 he returned to Europe and went to Switzerland to NLA club Friborg-Gotteron. After 15 games Amur Khabarovsk committed him from the Russian Premier League. After this season, Redlihs went to Sweden to Linköping. After only 6 games he went to Germany to the Hamburg Freezers in the DEL. After reaching the play-offs drew redlihs 2008/09 back home in Dinamo Riga, which participated in the now newly established Russian KHL. At Dinamo Redlih’s ten seasons to see 2017/18. During this time he made 413 games and reached 129 (34 + 95) points.
This season, Rēdlihs started at HK Kurbads in the national Latvian championship and has played five games so far, scoring two goals and making four assists. Now the jump after a short detour from the Latvian league back into the KHL.
The next matches of the Beijing team is an away series and will start tomorrow evening (9.10.) At Admiral in Vladivostok. On Friday Redlihs will be seen for the first time in the game in Riga against in Dinamo.
